Additional Chapter: A Theology of Motivation. This chapter is the theological foundation for the entire book.
You are encouraged to read it between chapters 1 and 2 of Choosing Change in order to obtain the greatest benefit from the book.

Chapter 1: What Is Motivation and Why Is It Important?

Tony Robbins on "Why We Do What We Do". Not only is there some good content here, but it is also quite a motivating TED talk. (the person Robbins talks to in the audience is Al Gore).

Simon Sinek on "Start with Why". A TED talk. The answers to "why?" are your motives. Sinek also talks about Diffusion of Innovations Theory.  "We follow those who lead, not for them, but for us."

The power of capability beliefs: a TED talk by Caroline Casey.

Ryerson University coach Dr. Ivan Joseph on "The Skill of Self Confidence"

An illustration of an enactive mastery experience to build one's capability beliefs. A touching video about a young member of the Guelph Giants hockey team with the 2013 tournament theme song "Yes I Can". As you watch, notice the little guy's friend who provides persuasive encouragement, which also strengthens capability beliefs.

Chapter 4: Motivation-Based Change: Leading with People in Mind

James Prochaska gives a 75 minute lecture on his Transtheoretical Model in this 2001 web broadcast.  Technical, dry, long and focused on healthcare issues, but a substantial presentation by the theory's originator.

Chapter 5:  Preparing the Congregation: The Readiness for Change Step

The Readiness for Change Questionnaire, from pages 101-103 of Choosing Change.

 Chapter 6:  Encouraging Attitude Change: The Discovery Step

Juanita Brown and David Isaacs created the World Cafe workshops to evoke collective intelligence and link dialogue to effective action. Here the two creators explain the process and the qualities of good, meaningful dialogue.

Chapter 7: Developing the Change Story Together:  The Dialogue Step

Robert Tercek gives a TED talk on "Reclaiming The Power of Personal Narrative"  that is about how we can express leadership by telling personal stories about things that are important to us. Tercek is speaking about the emerging trend in "creative activism", which he promotes through his involvement with The Creative Visions Foundation.

Chapter 8: Crafting and Sharing the Change Message: The Deliberation Step

The Last Lecture, by the late Carnegie Mellon computer science professor Randy Pausch.
